Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe was considered by many the title able to save Midway and it appears that somehow the game managed to do it. One of the reasons which makes us believe so is the fact that the publishers shipped 1.8 million copies of the game and it already set a number of records for the company. Even more, the ultimate proof that Midway can go on is the fact that the company is working on a new Mortal Kombat game already!
“Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was the result of countless hours of hard work by many people, and seeing the game surpass the million-seller plateau makes it worth all the effort,” said in an official statement Ed Boon, Mortal Kombat creative director. “We’re already hard at work on our next version of Mortal Kombat, and look forward to being able to reveal more details in the future.”
There are absolutely no details regarding the next MK game – instead, we are told how great this latest release was: the most pre-ordered game in the franchise and one which resulted in over 3.6 million matches being played on PSN only.
We would’ve loved to hear some more details about the upcoming title, though. Hopefully it will be a more “back to the basics” game and fatalities will be for real and not “formalities”.
