Nelson tweeted: “Great news: Access to free games each month is coming for Xbox Live Gold members on #XboxOne – Details coming later in 2014.”
The program was first introduced back at the Xbox One reveal event in May. It seems to be directly influenced by Sony’s highly successful PS Plus Instant Game Collection program. Currently, the Free Games with Gold program offered players games like Assassins Creed 2, Dead Rising 2, and Halo 3 for free. Players can download A World of Keflings right now as part of this promotion, the game will be replaced by Iron Brigade on November 16.
While it is true that the games that have been offered from the program were several years old, it is important to note that the program is only several months old. It took Sony a full year until the Instant Game Collection program was rolled out. So by the time Free Games with Gold hits the Xbox One next year, we should see viable improvements.
