The legendary GI Joe franchise will make its debut in video games thanks to Electronic Arts, with the company planning to release a video game based on the upcoming movie GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra. People attending at the Toy Fair in New York this week will be also to take a peak at the game, since EA plans to unveil a “first look” there – one which promises to be of great quality!
The G.I. Joe video game will pick up where the live-action movie leaves off, allowing players to re-create and re-live the greatest moments from the film, cartoon series and action figure toy line. 12 GI Joe characters will be featured in the game, each with their own weapons and abilities. Even more, Electronic Arts promises to deliver an exciting single screen co-op mode, allowing two players to unite as a team. And I must admit I’m really curious with how will that turn out to be!
“As Hasbro and Paramount Pictures reignite the G.I. JOE property this year with an all-new toy line and film, EA is excited to play a major role in bringing this icon of pop culture history to a new generation of enthusiasts through interactive gaming,” said Chip Lange, General Manager and Vice President of EA Hasbro. “G.I. JOE offers exceptionally rich storylines and a cast of characters that lends itself incredibly well to creating an over-the-top action adventure video game that will thrill gamers as well as G.I. JOE fans.”
The upcoming video game will be released on August 7, 2009 and it will be available for all consoles on the market, including mobiles and handhelds, but excluding PCs.
