Somewhat surprising, the announcement was made in Russia at the IgroMir event by Chris Sigaty, Starcraft II’s lead producer. According to the Russian website GoHa, Sigaty talked about a potential first-half of 2010 release of the game, and said that a beta testing phase will kick off next year.
Of course, no exact release date was announced, but we assume that if the game is set for release during the first half of 2010 – most likely sometime in the summer – we can expect to see the beta sometime this spring. Which is absolutely amazing.
Of course, the Starcraft II beta will allow just a small amount of gamers to test the game so most of us will have to watch out for YouTube and blog leaks. But it’s worth the trouble for a game as big as Blizzard’s Starcraft, right?
