wii-fitThings were quite boring during the past several weeks in the UK sales chart, with Call of Duty: World at War competing for the first position with FIFA 09 only. However, things changed this week and there are quite a few surprises in the charts for the week ending January 17: we have a new number one, we have a strong debut at number three and a few other minor changes: it seems that 2009 is just beginning!

The biggest surprise this week is the best selling title: Wii Fit, which jumps three places and becomes a surprise winner, pushing CoD WaW one spot down. We also have a strong debut from Pandemic’s The Lord of the Rings: Conquest at number three, but also a comeback to the top 20 by LittleBigPlanet. Check out the top ten bestselling titles in the UK last week:

1. Wii Fit (Nintendo)
2. Call of Duty: World at War (Treyarch)
3. The Lord of the Rings: Conquest (Pandemic Studios)
4. FIFA 09 (EA Canada)
5. Need for Speed: Undercover (EA Black Box)
6. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Sega)
7. Guitar Hero: World Tour (Vicarious Visions)
8. Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training (Nintendo)
9. Fallout 3 (Bethesda)
