What Are the WSOP Cash Games Like

The focus of players who are going to the 2021 WSOP is really on tournament poker. There is a very good reason for this because this is really what it is all about. There are 88 bracelet events being held and there are also 11 online bracelets. Of course, it is incredibly fair to say that tournaments are going to dominate Vegas when the WSOP is in town. So that raises the question, what about cash games? At the end of the day, everyone in Vegas knows that the WSOP is going to bring a lot of action to the city, and it is the place to be if you are a game grinder.

Players tend to specialise in a single format when they look into poker. They choose to go with cash games or they choose to opt for multiple table tournaments. The rules to the formats are very much the same, in the fact that the flush will beat the straight. That being said, if you want to be successful in either, then you have to make sure that you do your research.

Poker Players in the WSOP

When you look at the WSOP, you will soon see that people have numerous preferences. Some prefer to play online poker through GGPoker and other people prefer to sit at a live table. Of course, the fact that many tournaments piggyback on the WSOP means that card rooms are filled to the maximum. You also have cash games that run for 24 hours a day as well, so if you are a cash player then you will be spoilt for choice here. You will also find way more recreational players in the games.

They are hitting the tables during the WSOP, and you have thousands of mid-stake players who are visiting the city to try and chase their dream. A lot of people have the ambition of being able to win a bracelet one day and they are finding themselves playing very affordable games to try and grind. They also play online cash games at home to try and learn how to play.

Playing outside their Comfort Zone

People playing outside of their comfort zone often means that they will approach the games in a far more passive manner when compared to playing online. On top of this, a busy poker room will attract Vegas tourists to the table if they want to try and kill an hour or two.  Two-stake games are very, very soft. This is amplified when the poker rooms are at their biggest. Of course, there are different skill sets required for those who want to be successful in their card games and tournaments. Some players do not realise this, and they become a mark. Cash games are very deeply stacked and sometimes you will have them be 100 blinds deep. Tournament players do not often have this many chips, but some stronger players have 30 or even 60 big blind stacks.

The stack size that they are used to playing from in their usual day to day games will usually be around this amount, so it is very important to keep this in mind. Some players do like to excel in cash and MTTS, but they are a rarity. Where the good cash game players tend to push the edge and they will take a 55-45 scenario when they have the chance, it’s safe to say that MTT players are far more used to trying to conserve their stack and they may even miss spots where they have the option to extract some real value, so it is very important to keep this in mind.
