GDC China

GDC ChinaUBM Tech Game Network, the organisers behind the Chinese Game Developer Conference today announced that the event would take place between September 15 and 17 this year. This means that the sixth GDC will take place two months earlier than 2012’s November GDC. As such the company has opened their submissions systems for both English and Mandarin speakers.

The company will take submissions until May 10, are are most interested in speeches and papers by leading industry figures who can create panels with applicable knowledge for the gaming industry. However, they’ve stressed that they’re not just looking for big names, with the smaller speakers who are chosen able to exchange ideas with industry legends.  The Chinese GDC takes submissions in the categories of Game Design Production, Visual Arts, Business and Marketing, Smartphone & Tablet Games and Independent Games.

GDC China is considered to be one of the more esteemed professional conferences for video game developers in Asia, and will take place in the Shanghai International Convention Centre. Last year GDC China also featured the 4th annual Indie Game Festival China awards, and I’ve reached out to UBM to confirm if the event will again be hosted.
