Treasure Madness Review

treasure-madness01One title that’s becoming really popular nowadays on Facebook is Treasure Madness, a social game created by zSlide and available to be played here. Let’s find out more details about Treasure Madness in this quick review!

I remember that back when the game was launched it was promoted as a FarmVille alternative in a really funny way – and it does manage to compete head to head against Facebook’s most popular game even though the genres are different and you don’t have to be a FarmVille fan to love Treasure Madness (and vice-versa).

The game is all about treasure hunting: you’ll have to explore maps, dig, go underground and swim, battle against ferocious bees and much more, just to get a valuable antique and complete a collection. Then start over again, gathering gold, creating a huge team, eating coconuts and so on. Sounds exciting? It’s as exciting as being a virtual Indiana Jones can get!

treasure-madness02However, in Treasure Madness, there are no Xs to mark the spot of your treasure: you have to keep digging and usually you won’t find anything. But when you do, there’s gold in there – used to purchase better items and unlocking blocked areas on the maps, food – used to give you extra energy and therefore dig more holes, and, of course – treasures. Which are not as easily to be won, since you’ll need to complete a minigame first.

The minigames are rather easy and you must have played them before in a form or another: you’ll play memory games, Tetris-like games, Bejeweld-like games and so on. You shouldn’t have too much trouble beating these games and getting the reward: a treasure, an artefact that’s part of a greater collection.

Completing a collection (which is not the easiest thing in the world) will let you “secure” it and claim an extra special reward – as well as granting you the rights for bragging. After all, you’ve worked quite hard to get your treasure!

treasure-madness03And that’s not all the greatness of Treasure Madness! Unlike your regular Facebook social game in which you can generally send a decorative item as a gift to your friends, Treasure Madness allows you to either sent artifacts (treasures) to your friends or highly useful items, like various types of food. Therefore, your friends really become useful and a must have if you wish to make the treasure gathering process a lot easier!

Another nice thing you’ll have to love about Treasure Madness is that you don’t have to spend too much time playing – due to the nature of the gameplay, you won’t be able to spend more than 10 minutes playing, which is really great: you’ll get your stress relief ASAP but you won’t forget to work, take care of your children or actually live your life! That’s a main bonus for any social game – especially since we all tend to play more than one!

All in all, Treasure Madness is a real gem that keeps getting improvements and promises to have a bright future on Facebook. It is fun, it is fast, it won’t keep you in front of the computer for hours, so it’s a perfect choice for those who wish to play a game but don’t have the time.

Play Treasure Madness and I’m sure you won’t regret it!

You guys have turned an extremely fun game into a frustrating mess. I absolutely love the game but like all the other thousands of TM players I will not be playing anymore as soon as I am finished with the Easter map. I understand you aren’t going to please everyone but seriously have you seen how many there are that don’t like it? Why have you guys taken an awesome game and turned it into a greedy money making machine? This is how I and other players feel, what were you guys thinking? I am blocking this app until you guys change things back. Having a storm right before the Easter maps are expiring was a very bad idea…no one can finish them unless they spend money to get MUS$. This is how I personally feel but I know there are others out there that feel the same way!!! Goodbye until you guys turn it back to the way it was!

The above review was written before the developers made a bunch of disastrous changes to the game. Before, it was an excellent game; now it is not worth playing.

This review was submitted prior to significant changes to the game. While the version this review is based on was everything the rview touts it to be, the new version does not resemble the reviewed game at all. Severe restrictions on health limits player time to just a few minutes. If you want to have fun, find another game.

Prior to all of the recent changes, this was, in my humble opinion, the best, most unique and entertaining fun game on FB. I played all the time…couldn’t get enough of it. The changes which started in late March have ruined the game. I no longer play, and my recommendation is don’t bother to check it out unless the developers finally decide to heed all of their (now former) loyal players and change it back.

Like others have said, this review was obviously written before changes that made Treasure Madness practically unplayable. The game started going downhill about 5 months ago, but many recent changes (beginning in late March) revealed that the TM developers are driven by greed and greed alone. Changes are constantly being made that force high level players out of the game because they have played since the beginning and have earned and/or bought sufficient health maximums and other upgrades that would allow them to now play without spending real money. Other changes now force players of all levels to spam the walls of their Facebook friends in order to be able to play for more than two minutes. Because of these and many other recent changes, the vast majority of current players have either deleted the application already or are threatening to do so. Also, as a direct result of these changes, the massive amount of negative reviews posted on Facebook have caused the rating for TM to drop from 4.8 when I started playing to 2.8 currently, and it continues to drop at the rate of roughly one point every couple of days. If Zslide doesn’t wake up very soon and realize how they are ruining this game, I really don’t see how it can last more than another month or so, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Don’t bother wasting your time on this game.. It used to be a wonderful game. They have made such terrible changes in the past couple of months it is just not worth the time, effort or money to play any longer….Boring to say the least

I’m with you Nancy – but the changes started small and long ago – whenever a developer takes a fun and successful game and starts to mess with it – that’s the recipe for disaster. I don’t mind improving the look – but when you want to change the rules of the game – move the treasures around AFTER they have been secured, change how much energy you get for powering up and what your reward system is – my advice – just allow your loyal players to complete level one and go on to a level two that has the new rules you like better. But don’t change the game halfway in. Yeah – I know you answer – the game is in BETA… ha ha when isn’t a Facebook game in BETA?
