Call of Duty Black Ops is indeed a very solid first person shooter game, just like all the games in the franchise, but the looks and the quality can only be kept alive by a strong rig running in the background. Even with the system requirements met, players might encounter stuttering graphics, low performance and general low framerates when trying to play Call of Duty Black Ops, so I’ve decided to share with you a few tips on how to improve the performance of the game.

1. The first thing to do is to lower the resolution and visual settings (1024×768 resolution should be fine!)

2. Launch Call of Duty: Black Ops while Steam is in offline mode then end the steam.exe process via the Windows Task Manager – this way, you free up even more memory

3. Close Internet Explorer or Firefox (or whatever Internet browsers you’re running) and also make sure you turn off all the applications that are running (including antivirus).

4. Finally, there is a really useful tool created by a Steam user that increases the performance of the game (especially the online play of COD Black Ops), which should be considered a must download for everybody. Details on how to use this great tool and improve the performance of the game can be found here.

Good luck squeazing the best out of Call of Duty Black Ops!

How it can be possible if at the first point I want to play in multiplayer using steam and cloud I suppose

for my part the play button in the menu beoome gray and cannot be selected after doing the point 2

  2. @Jayce Steam is not a bad thing, rather it opens up a world of possibilities. Why are you so much against a service that offers an uniform online experience (which is much much better than the BS called games for windows live) and great offers on games and downloads? The problem here is not with steam, it is with the developers who got lazy and did not optimize the game properly.

  3. Nonsense fixes. This is more or less the Activision’s original to-list was when the problems started to crop up, like some hack IT call center response. BLOPS issues are not about Steam or the user, its the game itself.
