dawn-of-warTHQ must be in heaven after finding out that their recent release, the real time strategy Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II grabbed the top spot in PC software sales charts in many countries, including the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain and Australia. It was time for the company to have some good news, since their finances were not the greatest these days…

“We have built ‘Dawn of War’ into a premier PC gaming franchise based on the Warhammer 40,000 universe,” said Brian Farrell, THQ president and CEO. “We are pleased with consumers’ strong response to Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II across many of our key markets and believe the game’s success clearly demonstrates our primary objective of delivering high quality games with strong global appeal. Warhammer 40,000 is a rich and growing universe and we look forward to expanding our offerings based on this brand in the future.”

I must admit that Dawn of War II was not on my priorities list (and I have no idea why) but things have changed recently, after the immense success recorded by the game. After all, a solid real time strategy is pretty hard to be found nowadays…
