Well, one of the best looking PC games of all times, Crysis 2 is here but some users, as it usually happens, are encountering problems when running the game: I am talking about the so unwanted Crysis 2 crashes and game freezes that make the game unplayable. In this article we will try to share with you some basic tips and tricks to help you fix the Crysis 2 Crashes and Freezes.

First of all, before trying any of the crash fixes suggested below, make sure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for Crysis 2. If it does, here are the steps you can try to fix the game problems:

1. Try running the game in Windows XP compatibility mode. This should generally do the trick.
2. Make sure that you update your video card drivers to the latest version
3. Check to see if there are any antivirus notifications behind Crysis 2 (Alt + Tab out of the game to check out). If so, turn off antivirus/firewall or place the game executable in the exception list. Most of the Crysis 2 problems are connected to the Antivirus programs or Firewalls.
4. Make sure that you turn off all your background applications before starting the game, including internet browsers and even antivirus software.
5. Keep an eye on your computer temperature. If you don’t have a good cooler things might get really hot and cause the game to freeze and make your computer unresponsive.

If none of these solutions work, uninstall Crysis 2 from your computer and completely clean up the registries (using a program like CCleaner) then reinstall it. Also keep an eye here, maybe other helpful users who have fixes for the Crysis 2 crashes will share them below.

  1. Sorry man, but this is useless crap. You wrote that during your lunch-break? This is not “guide”. This is: “I dont’t know how I can fix it but I must make a post today, so I’ll write just anything that leads nowhere”. Man – waste of time.

  2. Have to agree with Tim.

This is generic BS that could be said about ANY type of software that crashes.
“Check you have the latest updates for OS and graphics card, turn off anti virus and other applications. Re install game, blah, blah…”

98% of all users do all this BEFORE they start looking for help.
In 99% of all cases, crashes are caused by game code errors that requires a patch, by some game settings that might be incompatible with your hardware, or by coming in conflict with a specific third party application. That application could be as mundane as MS office, some video editing software, or whatever.

When people go looking for help and finds “Crysis 2 crash fix guide”, they expect to find such specific information as mentioned above.

My copy of the game runs beautifully on a designated gaming machine with high hardware specs. About a third of the way through the game, the game self terminates whilst in the process of loading the next level.
I.e. there’s no load on the system (GC, CPU, etc).
The shutdown is not initiated by Windows – “The game shut down due to an unknown error”

Your “guide” is in other words worthless and misleading.

  3. my game also crashed 3/4 way through a level. when I restart it takes me back to a couple saves before. pls can someone sort a patch out quickly!!

  4. My game crashes after the opening sequence lol!

get out of the ship, into the water and crash to desktop, then if you try to resume from checkpoint “crysis 2 TM has stopped working” just like in the good old days when you had to go back a cvouple of saves because of a corrupted save file lol.
