Christmas is coming really fast and there will be so many hot titles being released during the Holiday 2011 season that we’d better start saving right away to make sure that we have money for all the great products the we should buy as a gift for us (yes, self-gifting works!) or our beloved ones. Below I have tried to cut all the games that wouldn’t be normally on your buy list and only keep the ones that you should really play this Winter. How many of them you actually purchase – that only depends on you, but I am sure that you’ll find the suggestions below about the best PC 12 games to buy for Christmas 2011 (in no particular order)

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

My personal favorite on this list, Skyrim is the game that we’ve been all waiting for since like forever and we’re finally getting it this year. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim reimagines and revolutionizes the open-world fantasy epic, bringing to life a complete virtual world open for you to explore any way you choose. And it’s a MUST buy this holiday season – get it from Amazon or PlayAsia.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

I always say to myself each year that I will no longer purchase a Call of Duty game, but every time I end up getting it because it’s simply brilliant and probably one of the biggest and most renowned franchises in the world. COD:MW3 promises to be the most epic Call of Duty experience yet. The teams at Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have worked to create for the CoD player a scale that is unimaginable with a level of polish and creativity that will push the genre forward. So get the game in time for Christmas 2011 from Amazon or PlayAsia.

Battlefield 3

This franchise is the reason that makes me think that I will never buy a CoD game EVER. It’s that good and Battlefield 3 shows a lot of promise this year: it delivers a massive sense of scale, best-in-class audio, completely destructible environments, hyper-real graphics and animation, and lets gamers pilot a whole range of vehicles from trucks and tanks to choppers and jets. In other words, it’s non stop action of the highest quality, so you should get this one as well. You can do it here and SAVE 30% of the regular price or here.

Assassin’s Creed Revelations

Altair returns for this one, while Ezio goes to Constantinople where a growing army of Templars threatens to bring chaos to the region. To help Ezio take down such powerful foes, players will be armed with some deadly new weapons, including an ingenious hookblade that can be used to zipline across the city and haul enemies in for a combo attack. Sounds nice, like all the previous releases in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, so if you loved the previous games, you should definitely consider getting Revelations. You can pre-order the download version from Amazon and save 30% or get the game from Play Asia.

FIFA 12

It’s not much that can be said about the long running franchise from EA, a soccer simulation game that gets a new release each year and still manages to be one of the best sold games each season. This happens thanks to the constant upgrades in terms of quality – and even though EA doesn’t have much to change in terms of gameplay, they still manage to bring, year after year, a product that is new enough for us to buy it. And play it like crazy. You can too get addicted by getting FIFA 12 on Amazon.

Batman: Arkham City

Personally, I am not a huge fan of this Batman series, but at least I can admit high quality when I see it and I can recommend this game if you’re a fan of the action adventure genre. And, of course, a Batman fan! Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new, all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight. Get it from Amazon or Play Asia.

The Lord of the Rings: War in the North

Set in the amazing world of Lord of the Rings, War in the North is an intense Action RPG video game based on the novel and films of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Through innovative online, interdependent co-op play for up to three players who form their own Fellowship, the game breaks new ground as the first The Lord of the Rings video game to embrace the gritty and brutal reality of Middle-earth. Exploring previously unseen lands, storylines and characters as well as those familiar from The Lord of the Rings film and novel trilogies, gamers experience expansive co-op gameplay and upgradeable weapons, character customization and development, skills and special abilities, all of them to be used to destroy Sauron. If you think you’re up for the challenge, get this hot game from Amazon or Play Asia.

Dead Rising 2: Off The Record

Dead Rising 2 Off The Record retells the events from the perspective of the original Dead Rising hero, Frank West. Introducing the Uranus Zone Amusement Park, Sandbox Mode, and the return of Frank’s camera, Dead Rising 2: Off The Record delivers an even more satisfying Dead Rising experience at a low price, so if you’re interested in a cheaper game, you should give this one a try. Of course, if slaying zombies with all sorts of improvised weapons is your pleasure. Get Dead Rising 2: Off The Record on Amazon for just $39.99!

RAGE

Already released for a short while, RAGE promises to be one of the contenders for the Game of the Year award and if you haven’t gotten it already, you really should, especially because in time for Christmas 2011, all the problems related to the PC version of the game will be solved. Set in the not-too-distant future, you emerge to discover humanity working to rebuild itself against forces such as bandit gangs, mutants, and more. And you’ll love it! So get it from Amazon or Play Asia.

Games that you should buy if you didn’t:

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Portal 2

Bulletstorm

What other PC games would you place on this list of “must buy” titles for Christmas 2011?

  1. What about Star Wars: The Old Republic?

…it will be popular among MMO gamers and has enough storyline to possibly appeal to casual single-player gamers.
