The Sims 3 Delayed by Electronic Arts

The Sims 3 Delayed by Electronic Arts

thesimsOne of the most anticipated PC games of 2009, The Sims 3 was supposed to hit the retail stores on February 20, but it appears that Electronic Arts silently delayed the title: instead of the February release date, the game now has a “To be announced” notice on the official website, while several retailers have also changed the release to “first half of 2009”.

According to Edge Online, Electronic Arts is “evaluating the launch window” and they’ll have more information on the matter in the “near future”. It is not clear at the moment if this delay of The Sims 3 is a strategic decision in order to maximize sales, or the company encountered some unforeseen problems who need some quick fixing. We’ll update you as soon as we’ll find out more.

Ummm… this information is misleading. EA has not stated that they have delayed the game. Saying they are evaluating the launch window means that it has the possiblilty that it might be delayed. They removed the launch date and have not posted another one for good reason: the game could launch the 20th, or it couldn’t.

By the way, they are supposed to be saying something about the subject February 3rd.

Yeah, but we all know that “evaluating the launch window” means “delayed”. :)

I will, however, keep my eyes open today to see if EA makes an official statement.
