The Adult Xbox 360 Breakout Game Is Pointless
Really, I have no idea why such a game exists – you probably heard about it until now, the “famous” adult-rated Xbox 360 breakout clone which allows 13 years-old see some meat while shooting loads of balls at bricks. However, except for being a pretty well thought game which will most likely top the sales lists for a while now, it’s pointless and I must admit I’m really surprised with it.
I mean, honestly, I would’ve expected that the first X-game released on Microsoft’s console to be a solid, full budget, full scale title, innovating the almost inexistent genre, making us play it with a real pleasure and for more than 10 minutes – the amount of time people will probably play this breakout clone before getting bored. I wasn’t expecting such a poor quality title to enter history and, one way or another, forever stay in our mind. I am really shocked, actually, that Microsoft allowed this game to be the first. They should’ve done better.
It’s not the fact that I have anything with the game by itself – as a breakout clone, this community game titled Break One Out, is pretty solid, adding a new element, the balls bouncing off each other. So, after all, we could say that as a Breakout clone, it does a decent job. But what is the lady on the background doing there? And, since she’s there, why are the most interesting parts censored with ugly black stripes?
I guess that Microsoft wasn’t really sure what to do and just wanted to test the market. I believe that the market actually needs games just for adults to play. I truly believe that and hopefully soon we’ll get more. But not breakout. Not breakout clones, censored to the bone, revealing nothing, being pointless. At least give us something better, if you’re still bending the rules, anyway!
What’s your opinion about the release of this game?
UPDATE: I just found out that the game is no longer available, as Microsoft banned it. A bit slow, the game still had its 5 minutes of glory and an entry point in the history books. But probably the right thing to do. Now we’re waiting for better titles.
