Ten Amazing Visual Novels You Must Play (in English)
Today, while surfing Play Asia trying to find some new gems to order, I saw their adult hentai collection and remembered about my own list of Best Five Visual Novels ever. And since it was a pretty successful article everybody enjoyed (I didn’t really thought there are so many fans of the visual novel genre), I have decided to select a personal list of the best ten visual novels (and not only) with full English translations that can be purchased from Play Asia and fully enjoyed by the non-Japanese speakers.
So just check out the list below – with both old and newer games – and let me know what do you think: is this a real must play game list for the fans of the visual novel/hentai genre?
NOTE: All the games listed below are intended for adult audiences only. So if you’re not over 18 years old, please do yourself a favor and don’t read the list now: return once you’re an adult!
1. Critical Point
Created by Peach Princess, this is already a classic visual novel I remember playing back in the days and enjoying every little bit of it. Sci-fi, lots of endings (therefore huge replay value) and gorgeous chicks – these are some of the reasons that send Critical Point at the top of this list.

2. Chain – The Lost Footprints
Another visual novel classic developed back in 2002 and available via G-Collections, Chain – The Lost Footprints is an intense detective story every bishoujo fan should love. Add to that the fact that the entire game has absolutely no censorship, and you’ll know what game to play when your wife or girlfriend is out of town. Shh! It remains a secret!

3. Tsuki – Possession
A new G-Collections title that makes the list (and not the last one either), Tsuki – Possession is a multi-scenario, multi-endings love sim game is a simple visual novel that comes with a funny “hands free mode” (why would one guy need that I wonder?) and extremely high quality girls. I mean graphics. If you haven’t checked out this game (originally released sometime in 2003), you should give it a try right away!

4. Idols Galore!
A 2004-released G-Collections title that follows the classic path of visual novels: you’re the allmighty male and girls are ready to do everything they have to in order to keep you happy. Yes, it’s sad that the same doesn’t apply in real life, but that’s why games exist after all: to give us access to a virtual, fantasy world that has nothing to do with real life. Unfortunately.

5. Bible Black: The Game
Kitty Media’s game is a true classic and I doubt that if you’re checking out the list you haven’t played the game like three times already. But since strange things can happen, I must make sure that Bible Black: The Game is on the list and you do your best to play it. Because it is, after all, one of the most famous and appreciated visual novels EVER! And since it’s 100% translated in English, it’s even better!

6. Pretty Soldier Wars A.D. 2048
Well, this is not really a visual novel, but it’s obviously a must play game – and even better, a welcomed break from all that reading and clicking and decision making (because that’s all we do when we play such games, right?). Either way, Pretty Soldier Wars A.D. 2048 is a really sexy title that puts you in charge of a squad of bio-enhanced woman soldiers that… well… are extremely talented. See for yourself!

7. Discipline: The Record of the Crusade
Well, if you’re into the rougher side of visual novels and if you have enjoyed Kitty Media’s other title (the great Bible Black), then you should consider giving Discipline: The Record of the Crusade a try, the game that followed Bible Black. Also considered by many a legend, it is fully translated in English and promises endless hours of intense fun. Which sounds nice!

8. Lightning Warrior Raidy
This game is a very recent release from G-Collections and it is once again a short break from the classic visual novel genre, adding RPG elements and 3D gameplay. A real nice twist and quite a surprise from G-Collections, Lightning Warrior Raidy doesn’t necessarily rise to the standards of other games developed by the company, but it still is a nice play.

9. Amorous Professor Cherry
A “next-gen” visual novel from G-Collections, Amorous Professor Cherry brings full animated sequences into play and a classic but rather captivating story. Not to mention the forever young quest of finding true love by choosing the “right” character. You’ll certainly have fun trying them out. The different gameplay approaches, I mean!

10. Princess Waltz
Finally, the last entry on this list of top visual novels translated in English, is Princess Waltz, the most recent game made by the legendary Jast company. Described as “a tale of sword and sorcery and an epic romance,” basically proves that, even though the hardware has evolved, the things that can make us, the gamers happy are very basic – as is the gameplay and concept of Princess Waltz. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, after all!

What about Bazooka Cafe? I loved it! What aboutcha?
BIBLE BLACK AND DISCIPLINE FTMFW!!!
zzz..this is more of a list for people who like the H genre as opposed to visual novels with strong and complex plots. Most of these games are fun and entertaining in their own rights but have rather shallow plots[They are more of sex romps than stories..seriously.lol]…
really man.. I cant believe ridiculously popular titles like Fate/Stay night..tsukihime..tears to tiara..Utawarerumono..Yume Miru Kusuri…Chaos Head…Kira Kira… Ever17..Battle Moon Wars..Phantom of Inferno..and Kagetsu Tohya are nowhere to be found on your list =p
Well ultimately if your playing a short visual novel for laughs and the H scenes than I suppose the above list is for you..though you should consider Lilith games like prison battleship too >.> These visual novels are hardly the type that will make you shed tears or invoke any other emotions from you besides our ever present male horniess.
But if you are looking for an immensely fufilling plot where you can spend up to 60 hours or more delving into a mind blowing story with solid character development and intricate plot twists…stay away from the games in the list above and go for visual novels like Fate/Stay night and Ever17 instead.[Princess Waltz is probably the only exception in the list...its pretty decent with beautiful CGs and a promising plot...which didn't live up to its potential..lol..but nonetheless still rather enjoyable...and by the way..its NOT made by Jast USA..Jast USA doesn't make any games..they are only involved in the translation]
That list is fail. All I see are s**t hentai games.
Where is Fate Stay Night, Higurashi, Umineko, Phantom of Inferno, Air, Kanon, Ever17, etc.
