Gamers Are not Geeks!
If you’re a gamer you probably know already that the world around us tends to call us geeks, they claim that we (sic!) have no social life and most likely our girlfriend is either Left or Right. Well, they’re wrong! At least that’s what a study conducted by IGN Entertainment and Ipsos Media proved after questioning 3000 participants. So grab a t-shirt with “I’m a Gam3r” written on it and wear it proudly (apparently, chicks dig that, too!)
Back to the survey: it proved that gamers are twice as likely to go out on dates in any given month as their non-gaming counterparts – with real people here, not Melinda Chukville in The Sims, ok? Even more, gamers are more likely to date and get married, 13% more likely to go to movies, 11% more likely to play sports, and 9% more likely to go out with their friends.
Also, it appears that gamers are not only more tech savvy, but their income is also a lot bigger than that of non-gamers: $79,000 per year compared to $54,000 per year. But games, energizing drinks and broken controllers have their price, so it seems kind of natural. However, the study reveals that 55% of gamers are married and 48% have kids. Which makes us wonder if there are, actually, more gamer girls than we thought in the first place?
Anyway, all in all, one thing is clear: gamers are not geeks. We’re cool, we’re social, we’re rich and after we get to the next saving point we can go out on a date. With a REAL girl, mkay?
