EA Prepares Spore: Hero and Other Spore Products for 2009
Although it was not close to its potential success especially because of its simplified, cartoonish gameplay, Spore is still a milking cow and Electronic Arts will certainly do its best to squeeze even the last drip of milk: therefore, the company has announced that four new Spore products will be released by the end of 2009, including a Wii port, Spore: Hero. Finally, the Sims have some competition expansion-wise.
Spore: Hero will be a Wii-exclusive game, an avatar-focused adventure title set in a “beautiful new world” according to CVG, but that’s about everything EA said about the game. However, they did mention that Spore: Hero Arena will be also released for DS handhelds, and it seems that the Nintendo versions will be somehow connected.
The original Spore will also get some expansions, with Spore: Galactic Adventures being in the pipeline and targeting a “deeper variety of gameplay” which plans to expand the space stage, while offering fans the chance to create most of the game’s content by customizing planets and even creating their own adventures.
Finally, the last Spore product Electronic Arts prepares to release by the end of the year is Spore: Creature Keeper which, according to them, it’s targeted at a younger audience (which is strange, since it doesn’t seem that Spore is aimed at a very mature and hardcore audience either). Still, this game makes EA’s intentions be crystal clear, since it’s being considered a “mini-Sims” title, in which players will take care of a newly born creature with “Sims motives like energy and bladder”. Is anyone excited?
