assassins creed unityUbisoft has released a new patch (number five) for Assassin’s Creed: Unity for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC which has removed the need to play the companion app to unlock specific equipment.

Previously, players were required to download the companion app on their mobile and register an account for the web browser game Assassin’s Creed: Initiates to unlock blue chests for the main game. These chests included in-game money and special items such as pieces of a costume which made up the outfit of original Assassin’s Creed protagonist Altair.

Players will still be able to progress in Initiates and the companion app, but it will no longer be required to unlock new items.
