And the 10 Most Played Facebook Games Are…

facebook-games-topLet’s face it: we’re all spending huge amounts of time on Facebook and other social networks and we’re certainly playing lots of games there. Personally, I am a FarmVille and Cafe World addict, and I am sure you have at least a couple of games you love playing while exploring the Facebook. However, have you ever wondered which are the most popular and most played Facebook games? I did and created a list with the 10 most played Facebook games right now. Check it out, maybe you will find out your next obsession!

1. FarmVille
Yes, Zynga’s game is the most played game on Facebook and I strongly believe that the number of people that haven’t at least tried the game is very, very small. The idea behind FarmVille is really simple: you have some land, a lot of possible crops to plant and tons of customization options to keep your own virtual farm running and looking just like you want it to. And 67,541,274 active users (at the moment of writing) seem to have tons of fun playing it!

2. Café World
Again a game created by Zynga, the kings of social gaming. In this game, you’re in charge of your own restaurant, you hire friends as waiters, you decide what food to cook, you decorate the restaurant and try to get a rating as high as possible. Less customizable than FarmVille, Cafe world is still being played by 29,988,939 social gamers, which is huge if we are to consider that it’s one of the younger FaceBook games at the moment.

3. Happy Aquarium
The game at number three is Happy Aquarium, a title created by CrowdStar. It has 27,452,499 users and gives them the chance to take care of their own virtual aquarium: buy and sell fish, feed them, decorate the aquarium as you see fit and have a lot of fun. Apparently everybody does.

4. Mafia Wars
Close by is Mafia Wars with 26,950,264 users. Another game developed by Zynga, it does bring back the glory of the mafia-based browser games that are still flooding the internet. However, thanks to the social nature offered by Facebook, you can create clans using friends and take advantage of their skills. And yes, it might just be that casual, social gaming will replace browser based games in the future.

5. Pet Society
Created by PlayFish, this cute little game managed to lure in 21,778,337 users. It’s one of the more complex games that puts you in charge of your own virtual animal and its well being. You have to make sure that it is well fed, clean and happy, and you can also do tons of other things, like playing games, interacting with friends, finishing quests and decorating your home. A cutesy little game.

6. Texas HoldEm Poker
19,623,990 like to play it, and the name says it all about this game.

7. YoVille
And yes, another game created by Zynga – a virtual world one in which you create your own avatar and interact with your friends. You can host parties at your own place, decorate your rooms, send tons of gifts and do what you’re meant to: socialize and make friends. And with 19,406,129 users, you certainly have where to choose from!

8. Farm Town
For those who don’t find FarmVille fun anymore, or for those who want an alternative, Farm Town comes to the rescue: and already rescued a bit over 18 million gamers, so it must be doing a great job. Basically the concepts are the same: grow crop, harvest it and sell it, decorate your farm and send gifts to your friends. And no, even if it sounds so, it’s not boring at all!

9. Restaurant City
Even though this game exists before Cafe World, Zynga managed to take advantage of their popularity and throw RC back into the shadows (if you can say something like that about a game played by 17,441,213 users). Restaurant City is a bit more complex than Cafe World and has a bit more to offer on the menu, so it’s certainly a must try if you still have some free time and you enjoy Zynga’s title.

10. MindJolt Games
And sometimes we need to simply sit back and relax and play some minigames. That’s when Mindjolt comes into play with over 500 minigames to choose from and play. You can also challenge your friends and play against them, so you will certainly have tons of fun.

Of course, not fun is the problem here, but time: do you have enough time to play all these popular games? Or which ones do you play?
